“Għandna nibqgħu naħdmu sabiex Malta tassigura l-iffinanzjar ta’ proġetti marbuta mat-trasport u l-enerġija” – MPE Josianne Cutajar

Il-membru Parlamentari Ewropew Josianne Cutajar, permezz ta’ intervent fil-plenarja li ltaqgħet fi Strasburgu din il-ġimgħa, tkellmet dwar l-importanza li Malta, bħala pajjiż li huwa gżira u allura jsofri minn iżolament naturali mill-kumplament tal-kontinent Ewropew, jibqa’ jassigura l-iffinanzjar ta’ proġetti marbuta mat-trasport u l-enerġija.

F’dibattitu li ntemm b’vot dwar il-programm tal-Connecting Europe Facility 2021-2027, u li hu pass eqreb sabiex jiġu assigurati €30 biljun għall-fondi li jistgħu jintużaw fi proġetti diġitali, ta’ trasport jew enerġija madwar l-Ewropa, l-MPE Maltija fakkret kif proġetti bħal dak tal-Marsa Junction ma kienux ikunu possibli li kieku ma kienx għal dan il-programm. Għalhekk tenniet l-importanza li dan il-programm jibqa’ jassigura dawn it-tip ta’ proġetti, kif ukoll li tkompli l-ħidma sabiex tinqata’ kemm jista’ jkun il-burokrazija għal dawn il-proġetti essenzjali.

F’kummenti relatati, Cutajar semmiet ukoll l-importanza li dawn il-fondi jintużaw biex jassiguraw is-sigurtà tal-enerġija għal gżejjer bħal Malta li għad mhumiex konnessi mal-Netwerk tal-Gass Ewropew.

“Ninsab ċerta li dawn il-fondi se jkomplu jtejbu l-kwalità tal-ħajja ta’ kuljum taċ-ċittadini  tagħna. Billi nkomplu l-ħidma sabiex nassiguraw programmi ta’ fondi bħal dawn, nistgħu nkomplu inqarrbu l-Ewropa lejn in-nies u l-familji tagħna nkluż dawk fil-periferija tal-Ewropa bħal Maltin u l-Għawdxin” saħqet Dr Cutajar.

Issued by Josianne Cutajar MEP

“We must keep working to ensure the financing of Malta’s transport and energy projects” –  MEP Josianne Cutajar

Member of the European Parliament Josianne Cutajar, in a plenary meeting in Strasbourg this week, spoke about the importance that Malta, as an island country that suffers from geographic seclusion from the rest of the European continent, continues to secure European funding for its transport and energy projects.

In a debate that ended with a vote on the Connecting Europe Facility 2021-2027 programme, which is therefore a step closer to securing EUR30 billion for the funds that can be used in digital, transport or energy projects across Europe, the Maltese MEP recalled how projects such as the Marsa Junction would not have been possible had it not been for this programme. She therefore reiterated that it is paramount that this programme continues to ensure such projects, as well as to continue working to cut red tape for these essential projects wherever possible.

In related comments, Cutajar also spoke about the importance of these funds being used to ensure energy security for islands like Malta who are still not connected to the European Gas Network.

“I am sure that these funds will continue improving the quality of life of our citizens every day. By continuing the work to ensure such funding programmes, we can bring Europe closer to our citizens and our families, including those in the European periphery such as Maltese and Gozitans” Dr Cutajar stressed.
