Il-Kumitat Parlametari ITRE jivvota favur rapport fuq riċerka u innovazzjoni li tiegħu Josianne Cutajar kienet negożjatriċi f’isem is-Soċjalisti

Il-Kumitat Parlamentari Ewropew għall-Industrija, Riċerka u Enerġija, l-ITRE, ivvota favur rapport imsejjes sabiex ikun hemm public-private partnerships fuq livell Ewropew sabiex l-Unjoni Ewropea u l-pajjiżi membri, ikunu jistgħu jidħlu bi sħab mal-privat sabiex isiru proġetti ta’ riċerka u innovazzjoni.

Fuq dan ir-rapport, il-Membru Parlamentari Laburista Josianne Cutajar kienet negożjatriċi f’isem il-Grupp tas-Soċjalisti.

Permezz tal-programm Horizon Europe qegħdin jiġu diskussa modi ġodda kif investimenti fir-riċerka u l-innovazzjoni jkunu ta’ benefiċċju dirett kemm għall-familji, iżda anke għan-negozji, partikolarment dawk li jkunu lesti li jidħlu fi sħubija mas-settur pubbliku.

L-MPE Maltija Josianne Cutajar qed tirsisti biex pajjiżi bħal Malta jużaw dawn it-tip ta’ fondi sabiex issir aktar riċerka fl-oqsma tas-saħħa u konnettività aħjar fis-settur diġitali, fost l-oħrajn.

Intant, f’intervent b’rabta ma’ dan is-suġġett fil-plenarja li għaddiet, Dr Cutajar saħqet li hija tilqa’ l-isforzi kollha li qed isiru sabiex tissaħħaħ iż-żona Ewropea tar-riċerka – żona li teħtieġ spinta ġdida għall-isfidi li għandha quddiemha l-Ewropa.

“Ir-riċerka u l-innovazzjoni huma kruċjali biex jissaħħu l-kompetittività u s-sostenibbiltà tal-Unjoni u ma nistgħux nittraskurawhom. M’għandniex ninsew li Ewropa innovattiva tfisser aktar impjiegi ta’ kwalità, aktar SMEs li jlaħħqu mat-tranżizzjoni doppja u aktar reżiljenza għal xokkijiet futuri. Ir-riċerka fil-kontinent toffri potenzjal kbir li rridu nisfruttaw – bħalma teżisti wkoll opportunità importanti għaż-żoni periferali, inkluż il-gżejjer, bħal Malta u Għawdex, biex isiru “testbeds” għal soluzzjonijiet innovattivi għall-isfidi l-aktar urġenti tas-soċjetà” qalet Josianne Cutajar.

“Iż-żona Ewropea tar-riċerka ġdida teħtieġ il-kontribut ta’ kulħadd u biex tirnexxi u tkun ta’ suċċess irridu li l-kbir saż-żgħir ikun preżenti u attiv”, temmet tgħid l-MPE Laburista Josianne Cutajar.

ITRE European Committee votes in favour of a report on research and innovation to which Josianne Cutajar acted as negotiator on behalf of S&D

The European Parliamentary Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, ITRE, voted in favour of a report based on public private partnerships at European level in order to allow the European Union and member countries to engage in private partnerships to carry out research and innovation projects.

On this report, Labour MEP Josianne Cutajar was a negotiator on behalf of the Socialists’ Group.

The Horizon Europe programme discusses new ways in which investments in research and innovation directly benefit families and businesses especially those businesses who are willing to partner up with the public sector.

Maltese MEP Josianne Cutajar is working tirelessly so that countries like Malta can use this type of funding to carry out more research in the fields of health and better connectivity in the digital sector, among others.

Meanwhile, during the last plenary session Dr. Cutajar stressed that she welcomed all the efforts being made to strengthen the European research area — an area that needs a fresh impetus to address the challenges facing Europe.

“Research and innovation are crucial to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the Union and we cannot neglect them. It should not be forgotten that an innovative Europe means more quality jobs, more SMEs coping with the dual transition and more resilience to future shocks. Research on the continent offers great potential to harness — it also offers an important opportunity for peripheral areas, including islands, such as Malta and Gozo, to become “testbeds” for innovative solutions to the most pressing societal challenges” said Josianne Cutajar.

“The new European research area needs everyone’s input and to be successful we need everyone, from small to large, to be present and active”, said Labour MEP Josianne Cutajar.
